🇳🇴 How to Make Kaffe
Craving Kaffe? On FoodNeverComes the food never actually comes — so here's how to make real Kaffe at home, in about 10 min, with stuff you probably already have.

- 60g coarsely ground coffee, medium roast
- 1 litre water
- a pinch of salt
- optional: a crushed eggshell
👩🍳 Method
- Bring the water to just off the boil, around 93°C. Norwegians drink more coffee per head than almost anyone, and the thing they are fussiest about is not scalding it.
- Take the pot off the heat, stir in the coffee and the pinch of salt, and put the lid on.
- Leave it 4 minutes. The grounds form a crust; break it once with a spoon and leave it alone after that.
- Add a splash of cold water down the side of the pot. The temperature drop makes the grounds sink, which is the whole trick of kokekaffe and the reason it needs no filter.
- Pour slowly and stop before the sludge. Served black, endlessly, with a waffle.
The food never comes — but this time, you make it. 🍳
