- 1 cup blackcurrant cordial (Ribena-style)
- 1 cup orange soda
- 1 cup lemon-lime soda
- juice of 1 lime
- 3 slices cucumber
- 1 slice orange, 1 slice lemon
- a dash of aromatic bitters (optional)
- plenty of ice
👩🍳 Method
- Fill two tall glasses to the top with ice. Chapman is diluted by design; skimping on ice makes it cloying.
- Pour the blackcurrant cordial over the ice first so it streaks down through it.
- Add the lime juice and the bitters if using — a few drops, no more.
- Top with the orange soda and lemon-lime soda in equal measure and stir once, gently, to keep the fizz.
- Slide the cucumber down the inside of the glass along with the citrus slices. The cucumber is not garnish; it is what makes it taste like Chapman.
- Serve immediately. It was invented in a Lagos club and is entirely alcohol-free, which is why children drink it at every Nigerian party.
The food never comes — but this time, you make it. 🍳
