- 2 cups shaved ice
- 4 tbsp evaporated milk
- sweetened red beans, chickpeas, nata de coco, kaong, macapuno
- 2 tbsp ube halaya
- 1 slice leche flan
- 1 scoop ube ice cream
- toasted rice flakes (pinipig)
👩🍳 Method
- Layer the sweet preserves in the bottom of a tall glass. Halo-halo means 'mix-mix' and the layers exist to be destroyed.
- Pack shaved ice on top, right to the rim. Shaved, not cubed — crushed ice makes it watery.
- Pour the evaporated milk over the ice slowly so it soaks down through.
- Top with the ube halaya, a slice of leche flan and the ice cream.
- Pinipig over the top for crunch.
- Hand it over with a long spoon and instructions to stir it into chaos before eating. That is genuinely the correct way.
The food never comes — but this time, you make it. 🍳
