- 600g mixed fruit — plums, apples, cherries, rhubarb
- 2L water
- 100g sugar, or to taste
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves
👩🍳 Method
- Chop the fruit roughly. Stones can stay in for plums and cherries; they add depth.
- Bring the water, sugar and spices to the boil.
- Add the fruit and simmer gently 15 min. Do not boil it hard or the fruit disintegrates and clouds it.
- Take off the heat and let it steep and cool with the fruit still in.
- Strain, or don't — many Polish households serve it with the soft fruit still floating in the jug.
- Drunk warm in winter and ice cold in summer. Every household has a slightly different one and considers it the correct one.
The food never comes — but this time, you make it. 🍳
