👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk and oil into a soft, sticky dough. Knead 3 min, cover, and let it rise 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Mix the filling. Oil your hands — the dough is sticky and this is normal, not a mistake.
  3. Divide into 8 balls. Flatten one in your palm, add a heaping tablespoon of filling, and pinch the edges shut like a dumpling. Seal well or the sugar lava escapes.
  4. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan on medium. Place a ball seam-side DOWN, wait 30 seconds, then press it flat with a spatula (a hotteok press if you're fancy).
  5. Fry 2–3 min per side until deep golden. Lower the heat if they brown too fast — the sugar inside needs time to melt.
  6. Cool 2 minutes before biting. The filling is genuinely molten. Everyone ignores this warning exactly once.
The food never comes — but this time, you make it. 🍳
